Fallout 4: How to Keep Your Old Version on Steam, GOG, and Bethesda.net
Steam
- In the Steam client, navigate to the Library tab.
- Right-click on Fallout 4 in the left pane.
- In the drop-down menu, click Properties.
- Click on the Updates tab.
- Under "Automatic updates", uncheck the box for Automatically update this game.
- Click on the OK button.
Note: If you want to manually update the game at a later date, you can click on the Update button in the Steam client.
GOG Galaxy
- Launch GOG Galaxy.
- Click on the Installed tab.
- Find Fallout 4 in the list of games.
- Click on the More button next to the Play button.
- Uncheck the box for Auto-update game.
- Click on the OK button.
Bethesda.net Launcher
- Launch the Bethesda.net Launcher.
- Click on the Installed tab.
- Find Fallout 4 in the list of games.
- Click on the Settings button next to the Play button.
- Uncheck the box for Enable Auto-Updates.
- Click on the Close button.
By following these steps, you can prevent Steam, GOG Galaxy, or the Bethesda.net Launcher from automatically updating Fallout 4 to the next-gen version. This will allow you to continue playing the original version of the game.
